Collecting soda tabs for hospitals? True or False?

My aunt works at the hospital and she told me every gallon jug of soda tabs they collect a child gets a free cancer treatment. I tried doing some research and somebody said that is not true. Is it true or not? I've also heard of hospitals collecting plastic bottle caps.
