Is jug fishing effective on Northern Pike?

Just getting my feet wet with jug fishing and trottlines and the like, Just curious if jugs would be effective on Pike. I know that Gar will take them, which are a similar species. If you have successfully done this before, what kind of set up did you use? (ie: depth, location, bait )
